On the Day

There will be a whole host of things going on for you on your wedding day.  Here are a few tips based on our experience...

Nerves!

It is understandable to be nervous but the minister taking your service will be be there to guide you through the whole service, including prompting everyone involved whenever they need to play a part.  You can relax - you are in safe hands.

Get me to the church on time

The church will be open one hour in advance of the start time of your wedding. There will be a verger on duty to see to any practical arrangements and to operate the PA system.

A particular note for the Bride – whilst it may be traditional for the bride to arrive a little late we do not recommend it! The start time of your service indicates the time at which you will be walking down the aisle, not the time you will arrive at the church gate.  This is especially important if we have other weddings on the same day but our organists, bell ringers and ministers normally have other commitments that they need to fufill after your wedding.

Seats please

It is really helpful if you have at least two ushers to guide guests to their seats and hand out your Orders of Service. An additional usher may be required to assist with car parking and removing flower arrangements (if necessary).

Other stuff

Once the registers are signed a marriage certificate is given to the bride.  Traditionally it is viewed  as the property of the bride, though most brides immediately give it to their new husband as suits have more pockets than wedding dresses!

Oh, and we are very happy for you to throw confetti but ask you to try and wait until you are near the gateways!
