Banns

Banns are the traditional means of confirming that both the bride and groom are legally eligible to marry each other. In order to be married by Banns the law stipulates that either or both of the couple:
• are resident within the legal boundaries of the Parish or are on the electoral roll of the Parish.
• or have a qualifying connection with the Parish.
If your marriage is to be authorised by Banns then they need to be 'called'.
