Our Vision

To become a worshipping community where people are nurtured in faith, growing in holiness, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to share God’s love and make new disciples of Christ.

In July 2003 a Vision Team was established to discern God’s will for the mission of St James & Emmanuel over the next 5-10 years.

This process involved regular meetings for prayer and discussion, presentations to
and feedback from the PCC (Parochial Church Council) and the Congregations, and some public meetings.

This exhaustive process resulted in a renewed vision for the church. At its heart is the desire to become a place where people can find a community in which they can truly belong. An environment in which their faith in Christ is nurtured and growing, and the equipping and empowering necessary to share God’s love with the World, bringing more people into a life transforming relationship with him.

This vision is for every level of church life but is most visible in our Small Groups and Clusters.

As part of our commitment to ensuring that our vision is sustainable and well resourced we have built a new Parish Centre adjoining Emmanuel.
