Planned
Giving Schemes
Regular members of the church congregations
are invited to join in a method of Planned Giving as a means
of contributing financially to the ministry of St James' and Emmanuel
and its link missionaries at home and abroad.
Planned Giving enables the church to budget and administer
its finances efficiently.
Knowing that we can rely on regular giving enables
us to plan for the future and extend our work to the wider church, as
well as meeting our immediate requirements.
Whatever method of giving
you choose, if you are a UK taxpayer we strongly urge you to allow us
to recover basic rate income tax on the gifts you make at no extra cost
to yourself.
Called
Gift Aid, this enables us to increase the value of your gifts by
an extra 28p for every £1 you give. All you need to do is complete
a simple Gift Aid declaration. The arrangement is totally flexible in
that you can vary your payments at will and you do not specify the duration
of your commitment. (If you are a higher rate taxpayer you can receive
tax relief at the higher rate by completing the appropriate sections on
your tax return. We can only recover tax at the basic rate).

Standing order
A convenient way for us to administer regular giving, and for you
to give regularly, is by way of a standing order directly from your bank
account. Please ask for a standing order form, which has our bank details
pre-printed on it, and once completed you just need to forward it to your
bank.
Cheques
You may prefer to give in lump sums, regularly or ad-hoc, by way of
a cheque. The Gift Aid scheme rules allow us to recover basic rate tax
on any sum given by UK taxpayers.
Weekly offerings
If you wish to give on a weekly basis in cash at the church services,
then we would recommend that you use a set of envelopes dated for each
Sunday of the year. Tax can also be reclaimed on cash given in this manner.
Payroll giving
This is a simple, tax effective method of regular giving if you are
an employee. The gift is deducted from your salary automatically before
income tax is calculated, such that you receive the tax relief for your
gift straight away at your highest rate of tax. As you receive the tax
relief in full, we cannot claim tax on top of the gift.
Self Assessment giving
If you are required to complete a tax return, you can arrange to give
any part of a tax repayment that is due to you to the church. The unique
code number for this purpose is CAM14ZG.
Other methods of giving
You may be unaware that you can give shares to the church and receive
personal tax relief. In addition, you can leave money in your will to
benefit the church in generations to come and at the same time mitigate
your inheritance tax. You may wish to seek advice from your accountant,
financial adviser and/or solicitor.
For the relevant forms or
more information on any of the above, email giving@stjamesandemmanuel.org
or telephone the Parish Office on 0161 446 4150.
All information which you
may give will be kept strictly confidential between you and those administering
the planned giving schemes.
