Celebrating the Gift of a Child
Congratulations! If you are reading this then you have probably received the most precious gift you will ever get – a child.
Whether this is your first child or the latest addition to your family, you have embarked on a new journey of parenting a unique human being, with all the delights and challenges that this brings.
Within our church family we seek to love and support parents and their children from their earliest days right the way through to adulthood. For many people this begins with a special church service, either a Thanksgiving or a Baptism. These services are, of course, primarily acts of Christian worship. But they are also offer an opportunity for your family and friends to gather together and join you in celebrating the precious gift of your child.
These pages provides a brief introductory overview of the Thanksgiving and Baptism services within St James and Emmanuel and we hope it will help you as you decide which would be the most appropriate for you and your child.
To begin to arrange a Thanksgiving or a Baptism please come along to our weekly surgery at the Parish Centre which is on the Emmanuel site (6 Barlow Moor Road) between 7.00-7.30pm on Monday evenings. If this is not possible or if you would like some further information then please e-mail us or call the Parish Office on 0161 446 4150.
