Wedding Flowers

Whether you make your own arrangements for the flowers or you use the flowers that we provide is up to you.

We normally have flowers in both churches for our Sunday worship (except during Lent). These flowers are arranged each Friday and are therefore avaiable in church for Saturday weddings.

You may choose therefore to:

a) accept the standard church flowers at no cost to yourselves.
Our flower arrangers are not professional florists but they are all volunteers who love working with flowers and have lots of experience. We can guarantee to provide:

At St James
- One pedestal – at the front of the church
- One table arrangement in the entrance porch
(There is often an arrangement by the Book of Remembrance on the
right hand side of church. We ask that this be left where it is as these
are donated by bereaved families and friends).
These arrangements are in mixed colours.

At Emmanuel
- One pedestal at the Cross
- One table arrangement in the porch

b) use an independent florist, family or friends

If you do wish to provide your own flowers then we have four tall pedestals and a selection of vases available for your use in St James and four tall pedestals plus two low pedestals available in Emmanuel.  Please do not use nails, pins, drawing pins or oasis fix to attach any flowers to the wood in the churches - they are listed buildings!

We will clear the church for you in advance and you will need to contact the Parish Office to arrange a mutually convenient time for the florist to gain access to church.  We ask that you take arrangements such as pew ends and Lych Gate flowers with you after the service but that leave at least the standard arrangements ie one pedestal at the front of church and an arrangement in the porch, so that there are some flowers in church for Sunday worship.

If you would like some help in deciding what flowers you would like your florist or friends to provide then our flower arrangers are often happy to advise what works well in church settings.

Two weddings on the same day
In the unlikely event of two weddings taking place on the same day in the same church building we will ask both couples to liaise with each other to share flowers as there is not enough time between weddings to rearrange flowers. We will provide contact numbers as necessary.
