Manchester Council Warm Homes Project
Manchester City Council are offering grants to cover some or all of the cost of improving the energy efficiency of private homes across the city.
The Warm Home Project is specifically for those living in either their own home or a privately rented house. The scheme is not means tested and up to £700 of work per property is free for Manchester residents who:
- have one or more children under 6, or
- are over 60 or
- who are on benefit
For those who are not entitled to free improvements, they are entitled to have some equivalent work done at subsidised rates e.g. £50 for cavity wall insulation. The maximum grant under this part of the project is £600 per property.
Improvements include:
- Cavity Wall Insulation
- Draft Proofing
- Reflective Radiator Panels
- Loft Insulation
- Hot Water Cylinder Jackets
- Low Energy Light Bulbs
The work is carried out by contractors who can take care of all of the arrangements with the City Council for you. One of the contractors is Insulation UK, and their website has useful information. They can be contacted by e-mail or by phone on 0161 643 6700.
