New Family & Children's Pastor
We are delighted to announce that Joy Wright has been appointed to the position of Family and Children’s Pastor.
Joy will take up her new post in mid September and she brings a vast amount of experience to this new role within our church family.
Quite apart from her personal experience of family life, Joy has worked in a wide varity of Christian and secular environments, including most recently ‘Care for the Family’. She is also a trained and experienced social worker.
The new post of Family and Children’s Pastor brings with it a new emphasis on caring for the whole family, and helping to strengthen married life. It also entails a greater emphasis on supporting the many teams who deliver teaching to our children. This is a very necessary change now that our children’s work spans multiple congregations and church buildings. Joy will work proportionally across both Emmanuel and St James.
When asked about the post, Joy said: “I am thrilled at the opportunity to join the staff team at St James and Emmanuel! This feels like a job which pulls together the various work skills I have accumulated over the years and my husband Jan and I are looking forward to being part of the St James and Emmanuel church family. We are looking forward to getting to know everyone when we come in September.”
We are looking forward to getting to know Joy too! Please pray for her and Jan as they prepare to take this step of faith, and take every opportunity to make them welcome. If we can help them both to belong, it will enable Joy to help us in our journey of believing and becoming.
