Child Protection Training
On Sunday, February 7th the Diocean Child Protection Advisor will be running a Child Protection training course from 1230-3pm in the Parish Centre.
You may have seen or heard our “important notice” about Child Protection training, and you may have responded in one of the following ways:
“Training? On a Sunday? It’s supposed to be a day of rest!”
“Child Protection? We never bothered with that in our day!”
“It’s not the children who need protecting, it’s the adults!”
I can understand all of these reactions to some extent, but in our efforts as followers of Jesus to provide the best for our children and young people, we need to keep up-todate with recent legislation and good practice. Incidentally, this is not only to protect the under 18s, but also those privileged to work with them.
So, as a special treat, our 2010 Child Protection training is being led by Su Foster, the Inter-diocesan Child Protection Adviser, and we thought that straight after All Age Worship on Sunday, February 7th was as good a time as any. This means we can have a light lunch together before we start.
This training is essential for anyone already involved in our Youth and Children’s work, but is also open to anyone who may be interested in getting involved in this part of church life, or is involved in something similar elsewhere. Even if you feel
you’d like to know more about what is “good practice”, you are welcome to join us.
Please note that it is not possible for us to provide child care for this training course and so parents will need to make their own arrangements.
Please confirm your attendance to me or the Parish Office so that I have numbers for catering and so that I can arrange a mop-up session for those who genuinely can’t make this date.
