Youth & Children

Our commitment to Youth and Children is one of the five key areas of our vision.

We aim to:

  • Encourage children and young people to grow into a personal relationship with Jesus.

  • Enable them to grow in confidence and faith so they can share the Gospel with their friends.

  • Equip and empower them to live a Christian life and to make their contribution to the life and mission of the Church.

  • Have a Youth and Children’s work that actively includes youth and children from outside the church family.

  • ST JAMES

    ST JAMES

     Creche
Sundays 10.30am in St James Church
There is a parent supervised creche available for children under 4 at the back of St James' church building which contains a great range of toys, books and craft materials.

    Toddly Play
Sundays during the service in St James' church building
Toddly Play is a fun activity and story telling based approach to helping our young children learn more about Christianity.  Children are signed in before the service and go into the Toddly Play room at the end of the first hymn, returning for communion or just before the last hymn.

    Godly Play
    Sundays 10.30am
Godly Play is a Montessori approach to children’s spiritual development. Each session begins with one of the stories or parables from the Bible, or one of the liturgical actions of the Church. These stories are told using beautiful and natural materials. The story is followed by a time of guided ‘wondering’ leading to a free response time using arts and crafts. The session finishes with fruit juice and a healthy snack.

Children engage with the story and respond at their own level and this enables the group to span a large age range – currently about 4-11.

Both Toddly and Godly Play meet weekly throughout term time (including half-term holidays) except the 1st Sunday of the month, which is All Age worship in St James’.

    Table Talk
    2nd and 4th Sundays 10.30am
Table Talk is a space for teenagers to explore the Christian faith by discussing topics of interest over croissants and hot chocolate.

These groups meet most weeks except for the 1st Sunday of the month, which is an all age service in church.

    Creche
    Sundays during the Emmanuel 10:30
After the older children have left for their groups (about 10-15 minutes into the service) there is a parent supervised creche available for the under 3s in Coffee Bar area near the front entrance to church.

    Pathfinders
